C’mon. Look at the pose and tell me this isn’t a fun image to look at. I mean, that’s what we’re after, right? Creating images that intrigue people or provoke thoughts or, help tell someone’s story.
This pose is Melissa through and through. There’s no better shot to help usher you into a fun-filled, relaxing weekend. That’s a wrap for this week but, feel free to peruse my site and check out my other posts while you’re here.
Go create something! Or patronize someone else who does 😊
I love capturing windswept hair in my shots. I never plan for it but I love when it happens! On another note- Check out this pose and tell me it doesn’t ooze confidence! This woman’s swag is just off the charts.. She does her own styling and makeup and always shows up looking trendy and cute as hell. Then I tell her it’s go time and she’s on like a light bulb until I say “that’s a wrap”.
We click when we work together and that’s an awesome feeling to experience. Get out there and find the people who make you want to keep creating and push on through the rest of the week!
Oh. Windswept Wednesday could DEFINITELY be a thing 😄👌🏾
As the title mentions, it’s Tuesday evening. I hope everyone’s week is going well so far.
I have so much fun when I work with this model. We laugh and joke the whole time, yet we never stop working until we’re about to part ways for the day. She shows up very prepared and means business once I turn my camera on. I’ve done a bunch of work with her in the past and hopefully the future will bring us together soon to create more magic!
Here’s to building a network of creatives!
It’s amazing what golden-hour light can do to a subject! It’s fleeting. It can be overpowering. It can be intimidating to work with. With all the things that can go wrong with this very limited window of amazing light, so many things can go unpredictably right. I did not imagine any of these shots would come out this way. I had already successfully shot golden hour photos in the past. With those photos, I had a kind of vision in mind and when we attempted it, the results were mostly what we’d thought they would be.
In this instance however, I had no idea how the shots would come out and I really disliked the idea of shooting in such an overpowering light scenario this day. Fortunately, we did the shoot anyway. We ended up coming away with something magical! I also learned something about different ways to light people.
I say all this to say that if you have room for it, allow your creativity to run rampant once in awhile. Have fun creating and collaborating. You’ll surprise yourself sometimes. Sometimes things won’t go your way and that’ll be disappointing but, other times you get shots that feel like once-in-a-lifetime shots. It is incredibly difficult to replicate golden-hour shots because the sun needs to be at a position that it’s in only one time per year and if you have any precipitation that day or cloud cover…..well, you don’t get your shots.
I may go more into that but, that will definitely be another post at another time in the future. Anyway.. go enjoy your well-deserved weekend off if you happen to be off on the weekends!!
Halfway through the work week. It may be time to just pause and contemplate for a second or maybe take a breather. A lot of time we forget to stop and remember the good things we have going on for us. It’s times like this that I’m grateful for having photography as a creative outlet. It helps me focus and realign my energy in ways that are useful to me. It also allow me to put energy into something outside of myself and get that much needed separation from other things I may have going on my life.
What kinds of creative outlets do my followers and visitors have? I’d like to hear about it in the comments 🙂
Good morning everyone! I hope the weekend treated everyone well. Time to get the week started and we’re gonna go with some great golden hour shots this week.
If this photo looks familiar, it’s because I’ve posted it previously. So what.. It’s good enough lol. If you don’t feel this playful at the thought of the workweek coming to a close, you may wanna get yourself checked out 😄. Her face and body language say it all. “Come to me, my weekend…” 😄.
Seriously, everyone. Have a great and safe weekend!!!
Good morning! Green hair and stage lighting to help get you going this Monday!
This was taken at Suicidegirls Blackheart Burlesque show back in March of 2018. It’s always cool to catch shots like this in the moment.
I love working with Christian. He challenged me so much during our shoot and even later, in the editing process. We aspire to do things and a lot of times we’re our own worst enemies. We’re afforded opportunities and then are afraid to capitalize on them.
Christian just wants to create beautiful art. If you have the opportunity to work with and you somehow unlock his creative mindset, do yourself a favor and shut up, buckle up and try to keep up! A lot of us say we want more creative freedom. That we want to stop doing the same ole things and then we’re afraid to take leaps of faith. This shoot was scary for me because none of my traditional “rules” applied. I had to throw out a lot of things I’d learned and step out of my comfort zone. That’s terrifying to do but, the reward is unlike anything else when you click with your muse because of it. Seize control of your destiny and try something new! Happy Friday!!
