I never get shots like this with just one shutter release. All of these photos on the site are the result of tens or hundreds of snaps; waiting for the perfect shot and moment. Framing it, getting the exposure correct, bracing for a steady shot and then capturing a fleeting moment before it’s gone. This was taken during sunset and the sky seemed to change so rapidly. It’s always cool when I transfer images from the camera and come across an action shot like this one!
I guess I could on and on about how I’ve preplanned all of these shot opportunities but, that’s going to be the situation most of the time because, I actively scout ahead for shots when I can. This was a cold day. My hand were cold for awhile after I was done shooting. I tried to capture what it’s like to be beneath this huge tree and then look up and outward to see just how beautiful it is!
I’m having so much fun capturing these moments and sharing them with everyone. Shots like these have to be planned out because they only occur at very specific moments of the day. It’s very rewarding when you finally get a shot like this.
